Terms of use
Last updated: 29 October 2026
Draft. This text has not yet been approved and some details are still to be confirmed. It will change before Amber is publicly available.
These terms apply when you use the Amber apps or this website. By creating an Amber account, you agree to them. Amber is provided by [to be confirmed: the owner’s legal name] (“we”, “us”).
Amber is not medical advice
Amber is a record-keeping tool. It is not a medical device and it does not give medical advice. It records the feeds, sleep and nappies you log. It does not diagnose, assess or monitor your baby’s health, tell you whether anything is normal, or compare your baby with other babies.
Nothing in Amber replaces advice from a qualified professional. If you are worried about your baby’s health, feeding, sleep or development, talk to your doctor, midwife, health visitor or pharmacist. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (999 in the UK, 112 in the EU, 911 in the US).
Reminders in Amber (for example, that a feed is still running) are only reminders about what you have logged. Amber never stops or changes a record by itself, and its reminders are not medical alerts. Do not rely on Amber to tell you when your baby needs care.
Your account
- You must be an adult (18 or over, or the age of majority where you live) to create an account.
- Keep access to your email and your devices secure. You are responsible for what happens in your account.
- Only add people you trust to your family: every family member can see and change all of your family’s records.
- Only add information about children you care for, and make sure it is accurate.
Using Amber
Please don’t misuse Amber: don’t try to access other families’ data, interfere with the service, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or use it for anything unlawful. We may suspend or close an account that does.
Your data
Your family’s records belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to provide Amber to you, as our privacy policy explains. You can delete records at any time, and ask us to delete your account.
The service
Amber is in testing and will keep changing. We work hard to make sure a record you log is never lost, but we cannot promise that Amber will always be available or free of errors. Keep a separate record of anything a professional needs to know. Amber is currently free; if that changes, we will tell you in advance and you will not be charged without your agreement.
Our responsibility to you
We provide Amber with reasonable care and skill. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for loss that was not foreseeable, for decisions made using information in Amber, or for loss caused by events outside our control. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law, and nothing affects your legal rights as a consumer.
Ending
You can stop using Amber and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may end these terms or close the service with reasonable notice, and we will give you a way to get a copy of your data first.
Changes and law
We may update these terms; if a change matters, we will tell you before it takes effect. These terms are governed by the law of [to be confirmed: governing law]. If you live in another country, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law where you live, and you can bring a claim in your local courts.
If you downloaded Amber from the App Store, Apple’s standard licensed application end user licence agreement also applies.
